Mick McCarthy departs relegation-threatened Blackpool after 14 games

Mick McCarthy has parted company with the Championship side Blackpool after 14 games, with the club deep in relegation trouble.

McCarthy and his long-term assistant, Terry Connor, who were appointed in January on deals until the end of the season, departed after Friday’s 3-1 home defeat by Cardiff – the former Republic of Ireland manager’s previous club – which left Blackpool seven points shy of the last safe spot with six games to play.
