Darlington’s Paddy Almond due for brain surgery after injury in cup tie

  • Defender sustained head injury in FA Trophy at Southend
  • Club say operation needed ‘to relieve the pressure on his brain’

The Darlington defender Paddy Almond was due to have brain surgery after sustaining a serious head injury in Saturday’s FA Trophy defeat at Southend.

Almond, 20, was taken to Southend General Hospital and later Royal London Hospital after being forced out of Darlington’s 2-1 defeat.
