FA contacts Wayne Rooney over claim he set out to hurt Chelsea player

  • Rooney changed studs to ‘try and injure someone’ in 2006
  • He says he left hole in John Terry’s foot with Manchester United

Wayne Rooney has been contacted by the Football Association after claiming he set out to injure a player in Manchester United’s Premier League match at Chelsea in 2006.

In a recent interview Rooney admitted he changed his studs to “big, long metal ones to try and hurt someone”. It is understood that the FA has moved to seek observations from the the Derby manager regarding his comments.
