Lee Carsley appointed England Under-21 manager with Ashley Cole as assistant

  • Former Republic of Ireland midfielder has been with Under-20s
  • Cole will also continuing working at Chelsea’s academy

The former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley has been appointed as the England Under-21s head coach, with Ashley Cole as his assistant.

Carsley replaces Aidy Boothroyd, who left the role in April after five years when the team were knocked out of the European Under-21 championships.
