'I need him': Manchester City's Pep Guardiola hails return of Sergio Agüero

  • 32-year-old striker made comeback in cameo against Newcastle
  • City’s record scorer could start against Everton on Monday

Pep Guardiola welcomed the return of a “sharp and dynamic” Sergio Agüero, with the Manchester City manager admitting his team need their record goalscorer.

The striker impressed Guardiola in a 13-minute substitute appearance in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Newcastle and is in contention to start at Everton on Monday night. Agüero’s recovery from the serious knee injury suffered last season against Burnley, hampered by further setbacks, has limited the 32-year-old to only eight appearances this season but Guardiola was enthused after Saturday’s cameo.
