Juventus players waive four months' wages due to coronavirus outbreak

  • Maurizio Sarri also agrees to reduction in pay
  • Club will save €90m as Serie A suspension stretches on

Juventus players have agreed to waive four months’ wages due to the coronavirus pandemic. Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates, along with the manager, Maurizio Sarri, have agreed to a reduction in pay “equal to the monthly payments of March, April, May and June 2020”, according to a club statement. The agreement is set to be worth around €90m (£81m) to the club.

Football in Italy is suspended with the country in lockdown and it remains to be seen whether the Serie A season will be finished. On Thursday the president of the Italian Football Federation refused to write off the season, saying the league could extend into July and August if necessary.
