Bayern fans’ offensive Hopp banners cause farcical finish at Hoffenheim

• Fans unfurl banners insulting Hoffenheim investor Hopp
• Players run down final minutes without attempting to score

Bayern Munich scored three times in the opening 15 minutes en route to a 6-0 victory at Hoffenheim on Saturday but the game was interrupted for 20 minutes over an offensive banner unfurled by visiting fans.

Bayern moved four points clear at the top of the table overnight but the match was at risk of being cut short in the 77th minute after Bayern fans displayed the banner insulting the Hoffenheim investor Dietmar Hopp. The Bayern players and club bosses walked towards the stands and urged their fans to take the banner down.
