Edinson Cavani will stay at PSG for the remainder of the season after Atlético Madrid failed to reach a deal with the French club for a transfer in this window. The Uruguayan had been desperate to join up with Diego Simeone’s team but will now join the La Liga side on a free in the summer instead.
This is from our man in Manchester, Jamie Jackson, on Josh King. Bournemouth: “Joshua King remains on Manchester United’s radar. Unless Bournemouth can bring in another forward they may be reluctant to sell King given he is one of only three senior strikers there, along with Callum Wilson and Dominic Solanke. As always on transfer deadline day there could be developments.”
However, Eddie Howe sounded resigned to losing King in his press conference to preview their match with Aston Villa this weekend. Here’s what he had to say:
I’m not going to deny anything you’ve read [about Bournemouth rejecting a bid for King]. Who knows what’s going to happen? Josh is much valued and loved by us and another club has obviously seen how good he is. Speaking as the manager, with a day to go, I would be very reluctant to lose a player of that quality [but] a lot of these things are out of my control. I love him as a player and person. I know what Manchester United means to him with his history with the club. He’s a massive part of out team. He brings that unique pace and strength that he has. He can play an number of positions for us too.
