Cresswell eases pressure on Pellegrini as West Ham sink Chelsea

West Ham found their stride at Stamford Bridge just as Chelsea seemed to run out of gas. Aaron Cresswell’s excellent goal just after half time was the difference in this game. But this was a fine, disciplined performance throughout from a West Ham team who never looked stretched and ended up 1-0 victors – their first win on this ground since 2002, when Frank Lampard and Jody Morris were both in the Chelsea team.

Manuel Pellegrini had come into this game under pressure after no wins in eight games. But his team came to play, were robust in the challenge, tightly stitched in defence, and with Declan Rice and Mark Noble fiercely disciplined in the centre.
