Manchester United’s Lauren James ends Liverpool’s resistance in WSL

Manchester United were made to work hard for their maiden Women’s Super League win in pounding rain, after a dominating second-half performance enabled them finally to break through a resilient Liverpool defence.

The 17-year-old forward Lauren James’s thundering strike past Anke Preuss and a Katie Zelem injury-time penalty earned United their precious first points and delivered a third consecutive defeat for the visiting team.
