Derby’s Richard Keogh out for season with injury after ‘alcohol-related’ car crash

• Derby captain out of action until the end of the season
• Club heavily condemn ‘group of players’ involved in incident

Derby County have confirmed that their captain, Richard Keogh, is out of action until the end of the season due to a serious knee injury he sustained in what the club have described as an “alcohol-related incident.”

It took place on Tuesday evening and following a team-building dinner with members of Derby’s staff. Keogh, the club said in a statement, continued drinking “into the night” with a small group of players and having turned down the opportunity to be driven home.
