Hundreds of Bury fans help clean up Gigg Lane stadium in hope of playing opening game

Hundreds of volunteers have taken part in a clean-up operation at Bury FC’s football stadium as the future of two of England’s longest-running clubs hung in the balance.

Bury FC have until 5pm on Tuesday to complete a sale that would prevent them from being expelled from the English Football League, ending their 134-year league history.
