The hosts are more cohesive as a unit these days and will offer a sterner test, though recent defeats to Liverpool and Watford have checked the optimism generated through pre-season. Max Meyer, impressive in his cameos to date, could make his first league start, while Southampton fret over the fitness of Danny Ings, a striker who had interested Palace over the summer.
