Manchester City end interest in Riyad Mahrez after rejecting £95m price tag

• City unwilling to meet “crazy” valuation and set £60m limit
• Pursuit of Algerian not prompted by injury loss of Sané

Manchester City have called off their efforts to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester after rejecting a package worth £95m, it is understood.

City did not make a form offer for Mahrez, but following informal discussions, Leicester proposed a deal worth £95m on Wednesday morning but City walked away. Their “top valuation” of the player was £60m and considered Leicester’s asking price as “crazy”.
