The world’s most expensive defender, Virgil van Dijk, is expected to observe proceedings from the director’s box at Anfield before officially completing his £75m transfer from Southampton on Monday. While all eyes strain for a sight of Liverpool’s statement of intent, however, Jürgen Klopp’s focus will be on breaking a barren run against Claude Puel. The Leicester City manager was unbeaten in four meetings with Liverpool while at Southampton last season and will be seeking defensive improvement after four games without a win. Andy Hunter
